Modern Tire Dealer reported concerning Don Dominguez ‘s passing on May 25, 2012, and promised more information about our dear friend.

Here are excerpts from his obituary, courtesy of the Sylvan Abbey Memorial Park and Funeral Home in Clearwater, Fla. Dominguez was born in Carteret, N.J., and died at 78 in Safety Harbor, Fla. He came to Clearwater in the early 1980's to make it his permanent home. He graduated from Carteret High School, and went into the Air Force, where he worked in cryptography and later in command headquarters with the air inspector general's office.

His first job in the tire industry was with Goodyear Tire & Rubber Co. in Akron, Ohio, as a direct factory representative. He was then hired as a consultant to Crown Tire Co. in Port Monmouth, N.J., to oversee national account sales.

He then went on to become national sales manager of Mohawk Rubber Co. Next stop on his career path was to serve as executive director of the Sonic Group and then as executive director of the $2 billion Private Brand Tire Group.

It is also with great sadness that we also report the following news:
